Play the wooden whistle with Anna Cederquist
In this workshop you will learn some tunes on the wooden whistle and a little about the several of the wooden whistles that Anna will have with her. If you do not have a wooden whistle, you can play your own instrument, for example a penny/tin whistle or flute. When we play together, we will play wooden whistles that are tuned to A and G. That is, when all six finger holes are covered, the tone sounds will be A or respectively G. We will play with rhythm and swing on relatively easy tunes.
The workshop will take place digitally in the program Zoom. You will receive a link by email shortly before the workshop.
The wooden whistles that Anna plays on are mostly the Härjedal, Månmarka, and Åsp varieties. Most of her wooden flutes were created by the very best in Swedish wooden flute builders, Gunnar Stenmark.
Anna Cederquist is a native of Norrland (Piteå) and since 1997, a musician, composer, and scrap-instrument builder based in Malmö. Anna is a multi-instrumentalist and plays recorders, folk pipes, sings vocals. Anna also plays and uses percussion and folk string instruments as well as electronics and her own scrap-instrument creations in her music and compositions. Gösta Johansson, pipe maker and musician, will join Anna for a while to show his wooden whistles.
The workshop is arranged in collaboration with the adult education organization, Bilda. Registration opens at 9 a.m. on Monday, February 14th via Bilda's website.
