Frida Johansson is a composer and musician based in Umeå and has written music for theater (The Royal Dramatic Theater, Orion Theater, The Theater of Moments, The Theater of Norrbotten), for radio (The Christmas Calendar Candy Banquet 2020), and video games such as Unravel and Star Stable. Frida has her foundation in folk music and is a member of the vocal quartet Kraja but has also moved into the pop world with bands such as Säkert!, Barnet, Väärt, Ára, and 1900. In the last decade, her focus has increasingly been on composing commissioned music. In 2021, Frida received the Stims prize for Composer of the Year at the Folk & World Music Gala, as well as a music scholarship from Västerbotten County. In 2019, together with Henrik Oja, she also received an award from the composer's associate, Skap.
During this concert, we get to follow the music’s journey through various projects. Everything from the forests of Västerbotten in Unravel, to the world of trolls in Changing, over to baroque tones in Candy Banquet, and completely new music for an upcoming documentary. The music is performed live by Frida Johansson on keyboard and violin, Amanda Lindgren (Sisterhood, Frida Hyvönen, The Child, Jeff Elliot) on percussion, trumpet, keyboard and vocals, Mi von Ahn (Väärt) on guitar, keyboard, and vocals and Sunniva Abelli (Rhyme, Tradpunkt) on key harp and vocals.
